Solving Singapore's Daily Makan Dilemma
"Jiak Simi?" is Hokkien for "Eat What?"βthe eternal daily question debated by millions of Singaporeans every lunch, dinner, and supper hour.
Our Story & Mission
Founded by a dedicated team of Singaporean software engineers and passionate foodies ("makan kakis"), JiakSimi was created to transform mealtime indecision into an engaging, interactive group activity. Singapore is home to a world-renowned UNESCO-inscribed hawker culture and over 15,000 eateries, yet choosing what to eat frequently leads to analysis paralysis.
Our mission is simple: Remove the decision fatigue, celebrate local hawkers, and help friends and colleagues find great food faster.
Real-Time Geospatial Technology
Unlike static directory sites, JiakSimi queries live geospatial endpoints using Singapore Land Authority (SLA) OneMap data and Google Places APIs. When you spin the wheel or launch a Makan Battle, the platform calculates real-time operating hours, exact walking distances, user ratings, and verified dietary tags (such as Halal certification and vegetarian suitability) within a 500m to 2km radius.
Editorial Independence & Algorithmic Integrity
We believe trust is paramount. Our food decision wheel and 1v1 Makan Battle tournament mode are governed by 100% unbiased mathematical randomization.
- No Pay-for-Placement: Eateries cannot purchase higher wheel slice probabilities or guaranteed wins.
- Open Review Aggregation: Ratings reflect authentic, verified Google and community reviews.
- MUIS Halal Verification: Halal tags prioritize certified and Muslim-owned establishments verified through regulatory standards.
Community & Feedback
Hawker centres and local F&B businesses evolve constantly. If you spot a closed stall, new opening, or inaccurate dietary badge, our team reviews and verifies community suggestions weekly.
